Windblown is a roguelike from Motion Twin, the creators of the wildly popular Dead Cells. It's launching in early access on Steam on October 24. The game is set in a gorgeous 3D world made up of an endless web of floating islands divided into biomes. There are no doors or rooms like you might find in other games in the genre, rather the entire map is open to you. Windblown feels great solo as well as in co-op but the boss fight at the end was hard to beat.
Apple launched the macOS Sequoia 15.1 beta with a lot of new AI-powered features for its iOS 18.1 public beta. The most useful feature is Writing Tools, but it's not quite up to scratch just yet. It's crucial that Apple improves things over time and doesn't let the slow drip-feed of feature releases stymie Apple Intelligence’s development. Other iOS 18-compatible phones won't be able to run any of the new features until October's official release.
Gemini Live is Google's AI-powered voice assistant available for free on all Android phones. It was previously only available to those who paid $20 a month for the Gemini Advanced plan. The app has ten voices to choose from, and you can pick your favorite from the list of star and constellation-based voices. Over the next few weeks, Google will roll out support on Android for more than 40 languages including Dutch, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Hindi.

The updates all leverage AI in an effort to create a more personalized and powerful experience for users. Spotify is launching a new offline playlist for Premium members. The feature takes queued and recently streamed tracks to create an easy-to-access playlist that is unique to the user. Spotify has been testing Offline Backup with users since late last year. It's now available as a feature to all Spotify Premium members globally, including Android this week. Last year, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek announced “Offline Mix” feature which allows users to auto-download up to 500 songs in different playlists.
The new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 is one of the highlights of this year's iPhone lineup. It opens the camera app, takes pictures and adjusts camera settings on the fly. Some people find the new user interface a little fiddly, while others like it. The basics of the Camera Control seem easy to use, but some people don't like it at all. Apple added the Action button last year to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, replacing the noble and convenient mute/silent switch. This year the customizable shortcut button now appears across all pro and non-pro models of the iPhone16.
Samsung has made its One UI 6 Watch Faces available for the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4 series. Samsung’s Wear OS 5 update has yet to come to any Galaxy Watch beyond the Watch 7. The watch faces included are the new Spatial Number, Simple Digital, and Ultra Info Board faces. They can be downloaded from the Galaxy Wearable app on Android devices with the latest version of the app. It's a consolation prize for the delay of the release of the stable version of OneUI 6 Watch.
